2011 vs. Guerin

Our first of seven games in a row against ranked teams comes at Guerin Catholic. After a tough loss last year, we wanted to come out strong. We did just that and found the net after only 8 minute of play. Maddie Malatestinic plaged a ball through to Melissa Snider who put it away far post. After that point, the game changed. It appeared we were satisied with the one goal and started to sit back. This allowed Guerin to possess the ball and attack with numbers. They got the equalizer with 10 minutes left in the half to make it 1-1.

The girls came out strong in the 2nd half and controlled the 1st 10 minutes but could not put it away. Guerin then started to dictate play again and got the go ahead goal 14 minutes in. We continued to work hard, but nothing would go our way. After their 3rd goal, the game became mentally draining and a bit sloppy. Ended up being a 5-1 loss but believe it will serve as a vital point in this years season.

Next up is the Zionsville Invite where we play highly ranked Collierville (TN), #1 Notre Dame (KY), and #6 Zionsville.

Goals:Melissa Snider

Saves:Annie Clark-7

Game Stats

This was one of the best performances by the Lady Braves all season!

The girls were very mentally prepared for this game.  Our high energy warm up carried into the game with a goal in the first 3 minutes of the half.  Tayler Fitts played an awesome, split-the-seams, through ball to Betsy Bennett who took off on a break away and finished putting us up 1-0.  The Braves had opportunity after opportunity to put the ball away but kept missing by inches. Only 7 minutes later, outside midfielder Olivia Malatestinic sent a beautiful cross into the box where Zoe Stein finished with style on a header goal.  The Braves continued to dominate the midfield, creating chances right and left. Betsy Bennett had a great through ball played into Tayler Fitts who was able to beat the keeper, get taken out by the keeper, and still get a shot off that hit the inside left post and rebounded just wide of the goal line!

Kaitlyn Brickey was able to seal off the shut out with her second half keeper performance.  The Eagles had a chance with ten minutes left to play sending a forward on a break away of their own, but Kaitlyn was aggressive in her approach and was able to save the day coming out and collecting the ball early.  Great team-wide performance tonight, I couldn't have been more proud of the way these ladies played.
