2011 vs. Chatard

Our first home game of the year comes against Bishop Chatard. We knew it would be a tough game as we tied them 0-0 last year and they already had 4 games under their belt this season.

This game started out a bit differently as we were really calm and composed from the kick-off. The girls were able to keep the ball a majority of the opening half. Just past the mid-way mark in the 1st half, Chatard was awarded a PK. Goalkeeper Amanda Pont went the correct way but could not get a hand on the well placed kick. So although our play was ok, we went into half down 1-0.

Our speed of play and urgency in the attacking third had to be better in order for us to create better opportunities and put them away.  We decided at half that we would put them under pressure for the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half and go hard in the attack. That we did and we were able to get 2 goals in the first 7 minutes. The 1st from Mel Snider off a cross from Maddie Malatestinic who got her own goal just 6 minutes later. We kept up the pressure and found a 3rd goal off a very good service from Sarah Hirschman with Chloe Burton heading it in. This would end up being the winning goal as Chatard got their second with 11 minutes left. Burton records the game winner just one game after getting the game tying goal against Pike the week before.

Next up is Guerin on Saturday at Guerin. Kick-off is at 4pm!

Goals:Mel Snider, Maddie Malatestinic, Chloe Burton
Saves: Amanda Pont- 3

Game Stats

The JV Lady Braves shut out the Chatard Trojans by the score of 8 to 0!  With an excellent team defense we were able to get our third shut out of the season. Special thanks to Olivia Malatestinic and Deirdre Kennedy for their team leadership playing keeper.  Goals start with Anne Marie Meyers with 2, followed by Betsy Bennett with 2, Maddie Pritchett with 2, and Abby Dill and Alexa Isbell with one a piece.

Great win for the Lady Braves who will "keep moving forward" to play North Central Tuesday afternoon.
