2011 Sectionals
The Sectional final opponent was Ben Davis, who we just played the previous week in the County semi-final. That game ended 2-0 as we scored both in the second half. With the Sectional title up for grabs, we knew we would get their best.
This game was a bit different from the Pike game as we were able to settle in and possess the ball, which is more our style. We found the net 24 minutes into the first half with what could be the goal of the year as Jen Dimos went up to head in a Kate Clark free kick to give us the 1-0 lead.
We kept the pressue up and Maddie Malatestinic put in goal number 2 with just over a minute left in the half. The second half was exatly what we needed as we really did a good job of keeping the ball and making the Giants chase. Our movement off the ball was at its best as we threatened to close out the game several times. With just 6 minutes left, Tayler Fitts put away a Malatestinic corner to cap off the scoreline at 3-0.
A great effort by our girls was rewarded with their second Sectional Championship in three years and only the second Double (Sectional and County Championships) in the program's history (1997 was the other time).

Brebeuf vs. Pike
Our first game in the new State Tournament format comes against Pike who we tied 2-2 early in the regular season.
We knew this would be a tough one as more would be on the line. The first half was a back and forth game as both teams shared the ball and created a few good looks. The game became a bit more entertaining in the second half after Pike scored 6 minutes into the half.
After that, we took control of the game and created many good looks to get back into the game. With 13 minutes left, Kate Clark put in a free kick from 30 yards out to equalize at 1. Just 1 minute later, Sarah Hirschman put in the game winner from distance to send us on to the Sectional final.
After a slow start, the girls really dug in to come out with the result.
