Brebeuf Jesuit Girls Soccer

Brebeuf v. Pike

Varsity

We started the game off very well and were able to set the tone while possessing the ball.  It was only seven minutes into the game
when we found the net to take the lead 1-0.  The goal started with a long ball played into Amanda Repass who then dropped it to Elise DeTrude.  Elise then dribbled down the middle from midfield and played a ball through to Kayla Delaney who finished the build-up very well.  We then became a little too relaxed and began playing a bit sloppy and not taking care of the ball.  Pike then stepped up the intenstiy and started to want it more.  Seven minutes into the 2nd half, Elise DeTrude put away our second goal from 30 yards out on a bending ball over the goalkeeper.   With the visitors still outworking us, Pike finished off a set piece to close the gap to 2-1.  We were able to fight off the late attacks by Pike to earn a 2-1 victory.

Game Stats

Junior Varsity

The girls came out pumped and ready to take care of business in the first game of the season as goalkeeper Amanda Pont with the help of a solid back four of Sarah Hirschman, Abby Dill, Colleen Moorman, and Chloe Burton recorded her first High School shutout in a 6-0 victory over Pike.  Jennifer Dimos continued her great pre season form contributing from a forward position in the new 4-3-3 formation scoring 3 goals and tallying two assists.  Melissa “Mel” Snider caught fire as well scoring two beautiful goals on perfectly timed runs off the passing of midfield Julia Sheehan.  Not wanting to be left off the scoring sheet defender Colleen Moorman took a free kick from 30 yards out on the right side and placed it perfectly over the keeper and in the left corner of the net.  The competition wasn’t the toughest on this night but it was a total team effort and a great way to kick off the season.
