And the season begins! Unlike Friday night, we are the team down right away this time. Starting off the season against the #3 team in the state is a tough task and the Millers proved that right away. They came out hard and put us on our heals with 3 quick goals. The visiting team had a plan and they executed as we were trying to get the nerves and jitters out of our system. Once we woke up and began to play, we were able to get a goal back right before half-time. Lauren Van Tassel sent in a free kick which found the head of Amanda Repass who slipped it into the net for our first goal of the season. This goal was also key as Noblesville did NOT get scored on last season. We were able to regroup at the half and looked like a totally different team in the 2nd half. It was our turn to take charge and control play which we did. Kelsey Kirkpatrick moved forward to play center-mid and provided some much needed toughness in order to match that of the Millers. Every player on the field was not more comfortable on the ball and we were able to string multiple passes in a row which is key to starting an attack. Early in the half, Maddie Malatestinic received a beautiful pass from Kayla Delaney and found the net to make the score 2-3. It was then a game for either side to take and we created more opportunities with a high pressure style, but were unable to find the net again. Late in the game, Noblesville broke through for the 4th and final goal of the game. It was good to see the girls come back after going down early and proving that we can play with anyone as long as we play our game for a full 80 minutes.
Lost 2-4
Goals: Amanda Repass, Maddie Malatestinic
