We knew this would be a very tough game as not only is Castle a quality team, but this was our second game of the day while our opponent's only game. The girls came out with a lot of energy for this one and it worked for us. Kayla Delaney found the ball from Claire Kelley and put it away less than two minutes into the game. We continued to possess the ball very well for the first 20 minutes of this match.
A weakness of ours has been defending set pieces and that is exactly how the home team got the equalizer. An excellent finish off a corner kick tied the game at 1-1. Our fatigue started to set in as Castle took control of the game to end the first half and for the first 15 minutes of the secomd half. Then our girls really showed some poise as we came back in the final 15 minutes to really press looking for that winning goal. Although we did not find the net, it was great to see the fight in the girls at the end of a very long day. We will take this draw and hope it prepares us for postseason play over the next couple weeks.
