This was a big game for us as it comes against the highest rated team we have played, plus this is who knocked us out of the State Tournament last season. Unfortunately, we did not come out ready to play in a big game.
The Irish came hard right away and put in two goals in the first 15 minutes. It was about 30 minutes too late when we decided to play the way we are capable of playing. We ended the first half with a few shots which gave us some momentum going into the half.
The second half was different than the 1st as we came out as the team on a mission. Not only was the effort at a high level, so was our play which created multiple opportunities on goal. Nearly 10 minutes into the half, Elly Hahn scored for us and put us right back into the game. We continues to press and control the game for the next 10 minutes. After a turnover at midfield, Cathedral made us pay for it by scoring their third and final goal. We continued to play hard and well, but could not find the back of the net again. Not the result we wanted, but did show how well we are capable of playing against a quality opponent.
