Cathedral vs. Brebeuf

Varsity

This was a big game for us as it comes against the highest rated team we have played, plus this is who knocked us out of the State Tournament last season. Unfortunately, we did not come out ready to play in a big game.

The Irish came hard right away and put in two
goals in the first 15 minutes. It was about 30 minutes too late when we decided to play the way we are capable of playing. We ended the first half with a few shots which gave us some momentum going into the half.

The second half was different than the 1st as we came out as the team on a
mission. Not only was the effort at a high level, so was our play which created multiple opportunities on goal. Nearly 10 minutes into the half, Elly Hahn scored for us and put us right back into the game.  We continues to press and control the game for the next 10 minutes. After a turnover at midfield, Cathedral made us pay for it by scoring their third and final goal. We continued to play hard and well, but could not find the back of the net again. Not the result we wanted, but did show how well we are capable of playing against a quality opponent.

Game Stats
Junior Varsity

This was a big game against Cathedral and we took the lead just a minute and a half in with Betsy Bennett using her speed to get around the Cathedral back. She then played the ball square to Jen Dimos who one timed it home. It took a little longer to score the second goal but Tayler Fitts was in perfect position inside the 18 to put it over the head of the goalkeeper. Then we let Cathedral get some momentum until the half ended 2-0.

We started the second half like the first with Mel Snider taking it to the box loosing it between two defenders then getting it back for her 11th goal of the year. Bennett would add one more goal on the evening but we couldn't maintain the shutout as Cathedral hit the post once and finally scored with 2 minutes left.
Final 4-1 Braves!
