Lexington Catholic

Our first game of the day was against Lexington Catholic.  The girls controlled the game from the start.  We had several breakaways but good goalkeeping kept the score sheet clean.  Lexington Catholic held us until the 15th minute when our breakthrough came from a corner, Jen Dimos delivered a good ball into the box and without hesitation Sara Hirschman knocked in her second goal in as many games from a set piece.  After several minutes of some good ball movement Zoe Stein came on, stayed wide and made a perfect cut into the box to do what we couldn’t do in the first several minutes, making the score 2-0 to Brebeuf after 25 minutes of play.  After halftime the girl’s came out ready to finish the game off and in the 38th minute did exactly that, Mel Snider took a pass from Dimos and two touched it into the corner of the net with her left foot.  Freshman Betsy Bennett, not to be outdone, stepped up and completed the scoring on an assist from Tayler Fitts.  The defense did a tremendous job holding Lexington to only 2 shots on goal and one corner kick.
Zionsville

The second game of the day pitted us against Zionsville’s 3rd team.   We were pretty evenly matched until late in the half when Carly O’Donnell took a short goal kick from Zionsville and played it into the path of Jen Dimos for an easy put away.  Our effort was rewarded again minutes later, as Mel Snider finished for her 3rd goal of the tournament from Betsy Bennett who was driving the Zionsville backs crazy with her speed down the side.  Halftime, 2-0 Brebeuf.  It didn’t take long for Snider to make a run down the left channel collect the ball look up and even with the Zionsville keeper in good position finish it in the upper corner.  The goal seem to deflate the Eagles and we had our way with in final 20 minutes Zoe Stein added her 2nd goal of the tournament off another beautiful corner from Dimos and Snider assisted Carly O’Donnell for her first goal of the season.  The weekend was a total team effort, 9 goals scored, 0 allowed.
