Team Recognized with St. Vincent's Spirit of Sport Award
World Champion gymnast Bridget Sloan presented the Brebeuf Jesuit Women’s Soccer Team the Service of the Poor Award for their work in the village of Niamsansan in Mali, Africa. This award recognizes a special commitment to serving those who are physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially vulnerable. Through t-shirt sales and other fundraising activities, the team raised enough money to send team members to Africa to help build a well and teach the basic principles of farming to combat hunger and disease. Villagers had previously walked seven miles each way to obtain water.
If you would like to contribute new or gently used items to NuAfrica, you can do so by placing the in bins that will be outside of Varsity Field on August 12th and August 22nd.
