In its final game of Junior Varsity soccer action this season, the Braves faced a talented group in the Varsity squad from University High School. An offensive surge in the first half was necessary as the Braves found themselves played defense the majority of the second half.
The girls came out strong from the start, out-shooting University 5-2 in the first half. 14 minutes into the game the Braves brought the ball down the left side of the field, made a cross to Kelly Rodman, who found Claire Kelley in the middle of the box. Kelley managed to turn the ball at the top of the box and played it to Jennifer Dimos who volleyed the ball passed the University keeper to make the score 1-0 Brebeuf.
The second half was marked by great defensive play from the Braves. University had numerous chances but could only convert once off a break away from the left side of the field. Stephanie Dimos had 8 saves for the Brebeuf in the game and the girls finished their season with a 1-1 tie against a strong Varsity team.
The Braves would finish the season with a 10-2-4 record, which included two games against Varsity squads. The girls will take this successful record into the off season as they look to the 2010 season for more success.
